The largest university in Cyprus, the University of Nicosia (UNIC) supports blockchain research with two research centers and industry partnerships with Ripple, Stellar, and Coinbase.

At the Distributed Ledgers Research Center, UNIC researchers focus on core and applied research on blockchain protocols and networks. Its goal is to create a bridge between pure academic research and the challenges from the wider blockchain ecosystem, and develop applications of the technology. The Institute for the Future is a cross-disciplinary research center "founded to explore the hypothesis that exponential technologies will cause rapidly accelerating societal change over the coming decades."

Inside the classroom, UNIC offers 18 courses related to blockchain. Additionally, UNIC offers an master of science in blockchain and digital currency and a master of science in computer science with a blockchain concentration.

The university also offers four certifications: a Blockchain Financial Analyst Certification, a Blockchain Business Analyst Certification, a Blockchain Developer Certification, and a Blockchain Regulator Certification.

UNIC hosts the Decentralized Learning Series Conference.
